Since 2012, Critical Care Comics (CCC) has sent superheroes to visit kids in hospitals and deliver comic books. CCC’s mission is to provide kids with an escape if only for 28 pages. The work their volunteers do goes far beyond this.
As of 2026, CCC has expanded its impact by supporting medical partners with new equipment, providing necessities to low income families seeking treatment, and creating a scholarship for childhood cancer survivors. Since it’s launch in 2023, CCC has awarded nearly $100,000 in college scholarships!

About the Event
Critical Care Comics' invites guests to join us for an evening by creating formalwear influenced by their favorite superheroes, heroines, evil masterminds or their villainous henchmen. This event extends an opportunity to think back to the characters that have had the greatest impact on our lives, and feel closer to understanding why the many costumed volunteers of CCC have made this work a part of their lives.
Bringing these characters to life has the ability to provide an escape from reality. This is central to the mission of CCC’s heroes when they visit kids every week. Come escape for an evening, and celebrate the impact these amazing characters can have on all of us!
How Each Dollar is Spent
Toys & Comics: Our superheroes plan 10+ visits monthly to hospitals and medical facilities with wagons full of gifts for kids.
Survivors’ Scholarship: Since 2023 CCC has given away nearly $100,000 to survivors for college tuition!
Community Support: CCC extends our reach to support for low income families seeking treatment, purchasing medical equipment, and others in need.
Fundraising: Promotional resources for community events, and to generate awareness and support.
Operations: This includes storage for comics/toys, costume maintenance, and resources to support our mission. None of our leadership or volunteers are paid.
